Event Photographer Manchester - Teaching Awards Trust

The Teaching Awards Trust Event at The National Football Museum

The Teaching Awards Trust

The Teaching Awards Trust is a charity set up in 1998 by Lord Puttnam, valuing and celebrating education. They work in conjunction with the Pearson National Teaching Awards and Educational Insights, and describe their mission as…

“Our vision is a society that values and celebrates the great work that takes place in education every day across the UK.  We want teaching and support staff across early years, schools and colleges to feel appreciated, celebrated and proud of the work they do and the difference they make.

Our mission is carried out through two powerful campaigns: the annual Pearson National Teaching Awards and Thank a Teacher.

The Pearson National Teaching Awards recognise and celebrate transformational teaching across the UK and are televised by the BBC each year.

The Thank a Teacher campaign enables anyone to show their appreciation for the outstanding staff working in education with a free, digital card.  Each year we celebrate National Thank a Teacher Day, a day when we encourage the whole of the UK to join us in thanking all staff who work in education”.

Rebecca from the Trust invited me to be their Event Photographer Manchester, for the first of five events around the UK. This was to be the first -’Resilience’ at the National Football Museum in Manchester.

Musharaf Asghar - Motivational Speaker

‘Mushy’ was the star of Educating Yorkshire….remeber the little lad with the stammer? Well, he’s come a long way since then, and now speaks publicly about his resilience, his struggle and how he overcame his adverse condition. He was absolutely awesome to listen to. The room was totally silent as he showed the original Channel 4 clip from the programme and talked about his life. I worked ever so silently as an Event Photographer Manchester, shooting with a silent shutter on my Nikons as I walked around photographing his presentation.

Ndidi Okezie OBE - Executive Leader

Ndidi was the host for the evening, and the links between all the speakers on the evening. An absolutely magnetic personality and incredible to listen to. Ndidi started the evening off with a brilliant warm up talk, then introduced special guests for a Q&A session for later in the evening, comprising of Olympian Marlon Devonish MBE, England Footballer Jessica Anne Clarke, and Steven Baker OBE, CEO of The People’s Learning Trust, to name but a few. It was great to be up close and personal to these incredible people as an Event Photographer Manchester.

Event Photographer Manchester

I have been an Event Photographer in Manchester for a good few years. Very experienced in working unobtrusively, and capturing events naturally with my documentary style. This was a perfect project for me - low light, a silent room when the speakers were presenting and being allowed to ‘do my thing’. I was pleased with the results as an Event Photographer Manchester. You can see some screen grabs of how some of my images have been used down the page.

Here’s a few images from the day as my being an Event Photographer Manchester for The Teaching Awards Trust…
